Balancing quotas with kid-friendly care

My pedo office runs a 4-chair open bay and books 10–12 kids per morning, and I keep getting nudged for spending extra minutes using the mirror and a dino puppet to coach brushing and build comfort. How are you all handling production goals while keeping anxious little ones calm and teaching hygiene — is it better to push back on pace or start looking for a slower office?

that sometimes find their way to the reception desk. Read more here Looking forward to another week of engaging discussions and shared At my last clinic, I’d turn rebooks into a small favor to their future self: “I can pencil your usual slot and text a confirm — does Tue 10 or Thu 4 work?” If they hesitate, I set a 48-hour reminder to follow up instead of pushing at the desk — keeps it friendly and still gets the rebook.

Short answer from my side: I’m seeing the same pattern — one concrete thing that helped was writing down the exact handoff and timebox it to 15–20 min. Does that match what you’re running into?

I’d carve out a 2-minute “coach” block run by an assistant in the 4-chair bay and chart it as D1330 so leadership sees value, then keep moving while they handle the mirror/dino. If they still expect “10–12 kids” with zero buffer, that’s a mismatch and I’d start looking. Do you have a floater who can do the demo while you start the next exam?

And i’ve had better luck using an A/B choice tied to the provider’s cadence: “Jess usually sees you in 5–6 weeks — would Wed 3:40 or Thu 10:10 work?”, and if they hesitate I text the self‑book link and add a 2‑hour soft hold so it doesn’t feel pushy, @lilyH90. Tiny caveat: clear those holds religiously — multiple choice beats an essay, but ghost holds clog the test.

If pans and release look good, watch batter temp/specific gravity — warmer, thinner batter spreads and swells the tops. Quick step: weigh a 1-cup pull at the hopper and again 10 minutes later; if “SG drift >0.02,” set a gentle stir cadence or cap hold time (or jacket the hopper) so it doesn’t turn into a slow lava lamp. What SG are you targeting?

With ‘10–12 kids’, text a 60‑sec TSD video pre‑visit; cap ‘dino puppet’ coaching to 90 seconds — timer helps. That doable?

I’ve had better luck when my resume and first message explicitly include “teledentistry (D9995/D9996), HIPAA, Denticon/Curve” so the ATS and recruiter see an exact match fast. If the role spans states, ask whether visits are async vs live and what time zone they book in, since those two details can swing your throughput and pay.
