Best Practices for Cone Beam CT Imaging

I’ve been working with cone beam CT in our office and wanted to share some insights on optimizing image quality while ensuring patient safety. It’s critical to use the lowest radiation dose necessary and position patients correctly to avoid artifacts. What techniques have you found effective in your practice?

One thing I’ve found helpful is ensuring the patient’s head is stabilized with a chin rest; it really reduces those pesky artifacts that can crop up. I’ve noticed a significant improvement in clarity since we started doing that. What positioning techniques do you prefer for challenging cases?

Great point on positioning! I’ve found using proper head stabilization does wonders for minimizing artifacts. What techniques do you use for patient communication during the process, @mike_smith84?

I completely agree on head stabilization! I’ve also started using a quick patient briefing to ease anxiety. How do you explain the procedure to your patients?.
