I’ve found that using distraction techniques like having kids choose a toy or book can really help ease their anxiety during appointments. Just last week, a little patient calmed down a lot when I let him pick a superhero to hold. It creates a more relaxed atmosphere, which is key to managing expectations post-treatment. @AnneLaRue mentioned something similar in another thread that got me thinking.

I totally get how stressful check-ins can be for pets. One thing that’s helped me is having soft classical music playing in the background; it seems to create a calming atmosphere. Have you ever tried that during your appointments?

I’ve had great success with using a small treasure box filled with toys that kids can pick from after their appointment. It gives them something to look forward to and can really lessen their anxiety when they see it in the office. Just a little incentive can make a big difference.
