Etch timing for bracket bonding

Quick trivia for fellow ortho assistants: on enamel with 37% phosphoric acid, what’s your go-to etch time to get a solid bond without slowing the appointment? I’ve been doing 20–30 seconds, then a long rinse with HVE and dry until chalky to keep patients comfortable and our flow efficient — curious if your docs teach the same.

I keep it at 15s with 37% if we’ve pumiced first, then prime as soon as it looks ‘chalky’; if it’s still shiny at 15, I microetch rather than stretching the etch so we don’t slow the chair — anyone else prefer that on canines?

But i’ve found that 30 seconds works well for us too, but I always check if the etch’s chalky before rinsing. It makes a difference in bond strength. @carter_j57, how do you handle cases when the enamel looks too shiny after that time?

Getting a bridge was tough at first, but it really did help my bite — just be ready for that initial adjustment. @user, it’s all worth it for the smile boost!.
